Sixteen Candles

Time is a funny thing.  I  remember my Mom telling me that when I get older time will just seem to fly by....and she was right.  Yesterday was my youngest daughter's 16th birthday.  How did that happen?!  When I turned sixteen my parents gave me a bouquet of roses and we've kept up the tradition with our girls.  These pink roses are the most spectacular and perfect for Sydney.

 We're so proud of all her accomplishments.  She's such a thoughtful and caring person, an amazing dancer, excellent student, and a fabulous daughter.  How lucky are we!!

Erica made Sydney this fabulous cake with the perfect Dr. Suess quote.  The world is at her doorstep and it will be so exciting to see where it takes her.

Sydney made this beautiful spring inspired cake for her Nana's 80th birthday on the weekend.

 The cake was delicious.  Lemon scented vanilla cake with almond buttercream icing.

Welcome Home

On Saturday, Erica returned from a wonderful trip to Tanzania.  She was away for two weeks and we all missed her.  Sydney, her sister, baked and created this masterpiece for her return.  This turned out to be a big undertaking for Sydney - with all the different stages of baking and decorating this cake was a three day process and took many 'girl' hours.

It was certainly worth it.  Gorgeous and Yum! 

Sweet Success!

My father in law had his 80th birthday on the weekend and my youngest daughter (who is eleven) wanted to make something special for him. She immediately thought of a cake because Grandad has a bit of a sweet tooth. This couldn't just be any cake, she said, 'it had to be special', and as you can see it really was!



It took over 3 days to make. There was the mixing of ingredients, baking of the cookies and the cake, royal icing, buttercream icing and putting the cake together. It was a gorgeous cake and spectacular with the iced sugar cookies as decorations. It not only looked good but it was delicious as well. The cake was subtly scented with orange and lemon and the buttercream icing had a hint of almond and was so creamy and not too sweet.

It was definite success and a wonderful celebration for a sweet grandad!
